Summary:
Horizon is interested in talking to Software Support Specialists in the DFW Metroplex. We are looking for highly motivated individuals to support our retail systems, written primarily in Microsoft’s C# using Microsoft’s SQL Server. This includes VB6, VB.NET and C#.NET. The nature of our work requires quick learners; self-motivated individuals who would enjoy the opportunity for career advancement. Horizon is a software provider and has been serving retail businesses for over 30 years. Horizon’s software products include: Point of Sale, Purchasing, Warehouse Management, Inventory Control, Accounting and PCI Credit Card Payment solutions.

Responsibilities include:
– Support Horizon’s computer based retail software
– Be in charge of facilitating and supporting software installations and upgrades
– Working with customers to solve problems related to the Horizon software
– Execute testing plans as part of our software deployment in our Quality Assurance department

Education and Experience
– Excellent oral and written communication skills, both technical and user focused
– 2+ years software support or a similar role
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems preferred
– Expert knowledge in Microsoft’s Windows Server software

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
– Understanding of Microsoft SQL Server database structures
– T-SQL programming skills
– C#, VB.Net and VB6 programming and debugging skills
– Understanding of OOP principles
– Understanding of the principles of business object and GUI frameworks
– Excellent problem solving skills
– Good organizational skills – effectively organize and prioritize work load
– Excellent written and verbal skills
– Demonstrate strong attention to detail
